Finally, American Gothic is released on DVD in all it's eerie
glory!! One of the best shows of it's genre, slickly created
and produced by (former teen heartthrob) Shaun Cassidy. Set in
the fictional town of Trinity, South Carolina, Gary Cole is Lucas
Buck, the town sheriff and devil in the flesh. He rules
Trinity with an iron fist and creates havoc for all who dare to
question or oppose him. One of the few inhabitants of Trinity with
the courage to defy Buck is Caleb Temple (Lucas Black), a lonely
orphan who's best friend is his deceased sister, Merlyn with whom he
has daily conversations. Buck uses everything in his arsenal
to lure young Caleb to the dark side while Merlyn works to keep
Caleb from yielding. Gary Cole is terrific as Buck and
American Gothic showcases the tremendous talent of this underrated
actor. Unfortunately, the show never received the ratings it
deserved and was canceled by CBS without fanfare. But,
fortunately, the fans of American Gothic can add this chilling
series to their DVD libraries.
